         The Young Entrepreneur's Edge

by Jennifer Kushell

Society tells us that we need to be a certain age to do certain things, but starting a business isn't one of them.  The news is filled with stories of young people who are starting their own businesses instead of taking the traditional job route.  Many of these businesses were started while they were still in college and were so successful that the entrepreneurs never needed a corporate job.

Jennifer Kushell is one of those young entrepreneurs who started in college.  For her, there is no other choice for her life, even with the hard times, pitfalls, and failures that come with starting a business.

This isn't a text book study of starting a business, but a realistic step-by-step guide.  Kushell draws on her own experiences, along with a generous dose of anecdotes from other young entrepreneurs.  She can talk about the difficulties and the rewards with authority, because she's already been there.

There is advice for each phase of the pursuit, from generating ideas, through planning, and managing the business.  An extensive resource section at the end of the book lists dozens of associations for entrepreneurs, including many that focus  solely on young entrepreneurs.

Kushell has directed this book to young people who wish to start their own businesses, but there are plenty of nuggets for anyone, regardless of age,  who wants to be self employed.
