The 10-second Internet Manager

Survive, Thrive & Drive Your Company in the Information Age

by Mark Brier

Mark Breier thinks the One Minute Manager is taking too long. In today's corporate world, decisions need to be made quickly. Businesses are now run at internet speed.

The author first learned the secrets of the new, internet corporations while he was VP of marketing at Amazon.com. The new corporate culture is innovative, dynamic, and continually evolving. Running a business in the 21st century requires an entirely new mindset which works at warp speed instead of "corp" speed. Successful companies will put a priority on action, dispensing with the usual corporate decision making process. Move fast or eat your competitor's dust.

The 10-second Inernet Manager is a compilation of all the tips Breier has learned about internet success. Many of the suggestions he makes would make traditional corporate managers reel in horror. According to Breier, the new manager needs to dump power lunches, hire friends, plan only short-term, and allow people to opt-out of meetings (if you have to have a meeting at all).

The most important aspect of the new corporate culture is having fun on the job. It is now perfectly OK to pelt the CEO of the company with Nerf darts.
