Do It Now
We are responsible for our own success. It is what we do, not what others do or what is done to us, that determines if we will be successful. Don't let these pitfalls sabotage your success.
1. Procrastination
Fear is often the impetus for procrastination. We fear success, we fear failure and our fears stop us cold. It is difficult to move forward because of these fears, so we do not move at all.
If you do not move, then you will not make mistakes, be embarrassed, find out that you are not very good at doing something, or any number of negative outcomes. When you procrastinate, you do not accomplish all that you need to and what you do finish may not be your best effort because of a lack of time to do it properly.
Write out the words "DO IT NOW" and post them where you will see them often. Have fun with this by using your DTP software and making the sign attractive, eye-catching, bold, annoying, or whatever else that will work for you. Just do it (and DO IT NOW.)
2. Lack of Participation
This follows closely behind procrastination. If you do not do things because of the fears, then you do not gain the experiences and knowledge that you need to be successful. It is easier to remain behind the scenes than to charge ahead and risk failure even if there is no reward for remaining hidden.
Life is an adventure and it is so rewarding to gain experiences, no matter how mundane they are. The more experiences you gain, the more self-confidence you gain and that is a key ingredient to success. DO IT NOW.
3. Doing only what's required
You need to go the extra distance to be successful. If you stop short, then you will not distinguish yourself from the competition. Once you have overcome your procrastination, then there will be plenty of time to enhance that project. DO IT NOW.
4. Resisting change
As humans, we love our habits. It is comfortable. But, if you begin to stagnate because of your habits you lose that edge you might have once had over your competition. Make it a habit to keep up with all the latest news in your area of interest and, also, make it a habit to apply the changes to your business. Where would Ford or GM be if they were still making thesame cars they did 10 or 20 years ago. DO IT NOW.
